jsPDF Alternative for PDF Generation

Published Mar 14, 2019

jsPDF is a client side library for javascript that allows you generate PDFs. It is open source and convenient for quick and dirty PDF generation, but unfortunately it lacks some key functionality. Since it is not browser-based, building a PDF with jsPDF can be cumbersome. In most cases, all you are looking to do is convert HTML to PDF

That is where API2PDF comes in. API2PDF is a REST API that allows you to generate PDFs at massive scale. You have a choice to convert HTML to PDF using either wkhtmltopdf or Headless Chrome — both browser-based engines.

Open up API2PDF’s home page in a new browser and click Try It Out. Generate a PDF from HTML and see how quick and nice it renders using Headless Chrome.

You can get up and running with API2PDF in minutes. You can generate PDFs from the client side by following this guide here or you can view the documentation and choose a server-side library of your choice.

API2PDF runs on AWS Lambda, a serverless architecture that can scale to millions of requests. It is extremely low cost, only $1/mo + usage.

Feel free to contact [email protected] if you have any questions at all about the service.
